Title: Error 478 - FireFly 2.80
Post by: Ken Myers on March 18, 2007, 11:28:06 PM
I tried to create a basic project with a form and a button and received the following error upon compile:

Error Number = 478
Error Description = Resource file error

Then it complains about the .PBR.  This is the same thing that occurs when I compile the sample projects.  Perhaps it is something with my environment options... I'm not sure.  Has anyone else experienced this with 2.80?

Thank you.

Hello Ken,

I experienced exactly the same problem. Also when I tried to compile the generated code from the JellyFish editor I received the error message "Error occured creating Resource (RES) File".

Older projects created with FireFly v2.75 compiled without problem - I guess as long no changes to the resource file is made.

I rely on it that Paul - as usual - will provide a fault free engine by tonight or tomorrow!

Please hold off downloading the new version. It appears that the
switch to the AppData directories for the sample programs is
causing problems with the compile process because of the now
deeply nested directory structure. I should be able to work around
this problem but it will require a new upload. Copying the sample
code to a shorter direcotry should fix the problem but it may
violate the security standards set by XP and Vista.
I should have a new upload ready soon.

That is exactly right, I copied the test code to "D:\ffTest\" and the problems were gone. It compiled fine just as ever!

Also deeper nested folders like "D:\!Dev\!PB\!FireFly\ffTest\" still work ok.
