Title: Pb installing
Post by: DominiqueB on September 20, 2008, 02:03:09 PM
hello,
i've had problems installing firefly for pb9:

always stating options were blank and not configured !

After completing pb9, and pb8 options the compilation was ok !
even if i don't have pb8 anymore installed on my pc and if i tick the pb9 option as pb9 is the default compiler !
It seems that the editor always wanted compiling with pb8 . . .

There is a pb with the install process and in the compiling process

ok, after a search on the forum, i saw the following message:

Try opening the Calc sample (which is getting a little out-of-date these days...), and go to the FireFly top menu called "Project". Under that menu click "Project Properties". There should be a combo-box on the Project Properties form called "Compiler". Select PB8 from the drop down and then exit the form. If that doesn't work then please let me know.

i applied the same method to compile under pb9 and that is ok now even if i don't complete the pb8 paths in options . . .

Ok

Yes, this seems to be a common problem that new users struggle with. The compiler can be set on a per-project basis. The samples are coded to use PB8.

I am making this a little better in FireFly 3 so that the user will have better information when the compile does not proceed. Basically, inform the user that the project is using a compiler that is not set up correctly.
