Title: System freeze when creating a Frame running in Vista 64-bit
Post by: Norman A. Blowers on October 16, 2009, 11:24:14 PM
By simply putting a standard Frame on a Form and selecting a thin border by selecting: Properties-WindowStyles-WS_BORDER, FireFly version 2.99 freezes and cannot be continued.

The system I'm running FireFly on is a HP with 1TB drive space, Quad CPUs, running @ 2.88MHZ under Windows Vista Home 64-bit.

Any ideas?

When you selected the WS_BORDER style, did you then click on the "X" in the upper right corner of the popup window to close the WindowStyles dialog? If you did not then that would kind of make the program look like it is frozen when, in fact, all it is waiting for is for you to press the "X".

If that is not the problem then I am afraid that I don't know why it would freeze. I do not have a 64-bit system to test.

of course you were right Paul, however the reason I didn't immediately notice the "X" was more than half is covered by the frame of the pop-up window.  Everything is fine now, thanks for your assistance

You are right - the new Themes in Vista causes the button to be overwritten a little bit. All of those minor visuals are fixed in FireFly3.... which is just around the corner!
