Title: FF 3.09 behavior
Post by: Brian Chirgwin on June 14, 2010, 11:03:42 PM
I have received problems with using search.

Sometimes (I haven't narrowed it down exact cause) when I perform a search the code window shifts up about 1 inch. The tabs, and comboboxes for control and sub/function move off screen.

At the bottom of the screen there is about a 1 inch gray above the the lower tabs (View/Form).  The entire code control(s) shifts up.

Not sure if this will help, but switching to another Form View using the workspace causes a blank area at the top to not be redrawn. Showing another code window is fine unless the problem occurs in this code window as well.

Once the problem occurs, clicking the tab (when visible) will keep the shift. Very weird when you click because it is instant.

The only workaround I have found is to exit and restart (which loses what I was searching for in the first place).

If I figure out exact steps to reproduce I'll post them. I'll also try to post an image later as well.

Hi Brian,

Strange indeed. I'll see if I can reproduce the behaviour here as well. If you can rustle up a screenshot then that would be helpful too.

Figured out when it occurs.

Start a new project
Add a module
Type XXX in the module
Close the module (Important)
Open Form 1 code view
Search XXX in the entire project
When the code module is opened containing XXX it will not be positioned correctly.

So, it only occurs when doing an entire project search and a form isn't open.

I was able to reproduce this. Cool!   :)

Now, how to fix it.......  ?

Okay, I found the problem. It took a while but it was such a very subtle issue with one of the display flags for the window that wraps the code editing window. All fixed now for 3.10.

Thanks! I appreciate that.  :)

BTW, the fix for this problem is also contained in the fix for that menu issue reported over at; http://www.planetsquires.com/protect/forum/index.php?topic=2552  You can download that FireFly3.exe for the fix to this problem if you don't want to wait for 3.10.
