And the value of the Bitcoin dropped almost 50% (http://www.theguardian.com/technology/2013/dec/18/bitcoin-plummets-china-payment-processors-digital-cryptocurrency) because one government (in this case China) declared that the digital currency is "meaningless", without legal protection and prohibited governmental financial institutions from trading in it.
