OK, I need to do some research into using a Verfone pin-pad and integrate it with a remake of some stuff i wrote centuries ago still on VBDOS!!!! :o
Has anyone here ever used Powerbasic / Firefly in any applications that uses financial cards, verfone or any bank card reading device, and so forth?
I am re-writing a program and people really want into automation of cards and not entering the confirmations on the Point of Sales later. It is available in most retailers, so it surely can be done in some way?
Typically the card reader provides some kind of API and documentation thereof.
For Verifone there seems to be a dedicated developer site: http://www.verifonedevnet.com/verifone/devnet/dnHome.do (http://www.verifonedevnet.com/verifone/devnet/dnHome.do).
thanks Knuth.
I had an old one around and it came with an OCX file for VB6 back then.
There are so many of these card readers available one wonders if it is really worth going into this as it requires Bank dial ups, verification and all kinds of bull for the transaction. Perhaps if one had hundreds of clients but not like me who do this for a hobby and fun.
I had this DVD shop program I wrote eons ago, and it was basically small DVD shops in the furthest and loneliest corners of the country that used it. As time progressed they got card facilities, newer pc's and the internet, so the needs changed.
I am not into commercial programming so I wonder if i sill per-sue this idea.
But thanks a million for the guidance!
