Opening project files with Firefly 2.10

I know it must be me, but I can only open a project file one way with version 2.10 of Firefly... load Firefly.exe first, and then select the .prj file from the Existing tab.  

I cannot associate .prj files so that double clicking them from Windows Explorer loads them.  Nor can I use Open from the Firefly File menu to open .prj files.  Each time I get the error message:  "Error parsing the project file."

The project files created by Firefly 1.09 loaded perfectly.  I have tried loading the project file the first way and then using Save and Save As, but that didn't help.  Hope its not something dumb I'm complaining about.
