I took advantage of the bargain priced sale....Thank you!

Just curious....I installed Firefly and put in my registration info.....went in to Options and setup PBWIN 9.0 as the default compiler.....tried to compile a couple of the samples and I got an error saying that I needed to configure my compiler. I ended up adding the same PB9.0 info to each of the fields for PB7 & PB8 and it was happy then. Also, I noticed that I could check the default compiler box under more than one compiler.
I didn't try compiling anything with it set that way, but I thought I would make you aware of it :-)

Is there something in the code somewhere to make it think it is compiler specific? I snooped around but didn't spot anything....just wondered how it knew to try to compile in either PB7 or PB8?

Thanks again,
Gary

Gary, check the properties of the sample project file.  You may need to specify a particular compiler there.

Yeah, I really need to fix this up for FF2 users. It is probably the number 1 question that new users ask. When you set all of the compiler settings you can also specify the "Default" compiler. The default compiler is used for all new projects. However, in FireFly you can specify the compiler on a project per project basis meaning that some projects could be PB7, others PB8 and others PB9. I believe that the sample programs were created using PB8 so if you don't have PB8 installed then you would get the non-descript error message saying that the compiler is not set.

As Tom says, go to "Project Properties" and set the compiler.

In FF3, all of this is *much* improved.  ;)

I've noticed another problem on my Vista system.  When I start Firefly, if there is nothing else running, Firefly crashes.  I can run IE or WE or some such first and run it again and it's fine.

Even when something is running, if I run Firefly after not having run it for a while it crashes the first time I run it.  I can just run it again and it's fine.

You mentioned at some point that there was a problem like this that you had worked around with the company providing your protection scheme, or something like that, but it seems to be happening in Vista, at least on my system.

This is very minor and if the new version is coming out in the not too distant future it won't hurt my feelings if it doesn't get fixed till then.  However I thought you should know about it.

Thanks Barry - I am looking into this crash thing. I think I have a solution but before I release a general update to everyone, I will sent it to those of you who have reported many crashes.... Hopefully, I'll have something to release soon.
