Hi,
I wrote some apps and they work great. now I want to make them lokk a little nicer. so I but a background to the rebar. When I have selected a bmp and press okay FireFly crashes!  ??? When I did it the first time it works. But after changing the image it crashes. And when I open the project again, it crashes immediately when loading the form with the rebar although the background in the form-file is that which works first. I have to delete it with an editor in the form-file, then I can reload the project. But when I try to give the rebar a background it crashes everytime I click OK (even with the background from FireFly).
Does anybody know what this is? Has someone had the same problem?
Thanks,
Rainer

Hi Rainer, this certainly sounds like a pretty nasty problem. Let me look into it tomorrow to see if I can duplicate the problem and then initiate a fix for it.

Hi Rainer, can you email me or post the two bitmaps that are causing your rebar to crash? FireFly is not crashing for me when I select different bitmaps.

Hi Paul,
yes of course. But it's not so easy: when I start a new project - everything works fine. I tryed a lot of Bitmaps and they all work fine. But when the project grows then suddenly, when I have to change something in the tool bar it happens. I tried yesterday to add and add forms and code to see when it crashes, but it's very toilsome. So I added existing forms and then....
I wanted to send you the whole project and just experimented a little bit and I found the following: I have a form called about and when I include it in the project all above happens. Now I deleted the file ABOUT.FRX and - wonder - everything is okay!!! Do I need this files (.frx), when are they created, can I delete them all? The only thing is, I can't see the background in FireFly but when compiled, all is okay.
Thanks and regards
Rainer

Hi Rainer,

The *.frx files hold the actual images used by the Form. (In FireFly 3, we no longer use frx files so this will not be a problem once FF3 is released). It is possible that something is getting screwed up in the frx file and causing the GPF. Deleting the frx is okay, but then you will have to re-add the images for your form.

Yes, Paul, I just found this out. I found the form which causes the crash when it's frx-file is presend. I'll send you the two files. Perhaps you can investigate something. (I don't know this is interesting you, because FF3 won't have this case. So if FF3 comes out "in a few days" I'll try this. But if it's a few month...???)

Hi Rainer,

I got your personal email with the About.frm and icons. I am also getting GPF's when I use it in a project. Very strange. I will try my best to track down the problem - I will be away from programming until Wednesday (sorry!).

Has this issue been resolved?  And, what was the resolution?
