...to use PB for a full fledged project at work! Anyone else in this boat? I've bought everything that I've used from PB out of my own pocket and use it here and there for small things at work. It's been wonderful to use it as a loader for everything else to test for dependencies and such before launching other programs. PB has saved me from so many support calls because it is so reliable in this area -- it just works. "You have an error? What does it say? Oh, X isn't installed? I can't really help you with that. You'll have to call desktop support." Outside of having an inadequate debugger, I love the language and how much just using it has taught me about the real API. (Thank you, Jose!)

We were recently in talks up here about starting a new front-end/sql server type app for HR. Everyone's head immediately turned to .NET... which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I can understand that they are spending a lot of money for their software and they want it to be in a language where they would have an easier time hiring people to maintain and update it in the future. I guess that I will just have to continue following the leading of others unless I try to make my own software to sell. Which I don't have time to do.

.NET never enticed me. I'm using ASP.NET on one web-project, but I don't really like it, so all others projects are retained at Classic ASP/VBscript. Due to my interest in webOS-devices, I've also decided to look into JavaScript and have already started to take baby-steps with it on the web.

Further down the road that might be as vise a choice as my choice of pursuing (Visual) Basic has been;

Choosing tools has always been difficult ...
