I just downloaded and installed the latest (3.03) version.  I had to re-enter all the compiler information again (location of PB9 etc).  That information is lost everytime I close FF3 and has to be re-entered every time I start it up again.  I have no doubt I've overlooked something - it's too early here in Hawaii to think straight so someone please put me on the straight and narrow!!

Sounds like your configuration file may be written to a folder that you do not have read/write rights to?

Before you start FF3, check the file date/time of the FireFly.ini file (in your \Settings folder). Run FF3 for a few minutes and then exit. Did the file date/time stamp change to the current time?

When you enter the compiler information, are you able to then actually compile and application in FF3? If the settings are invalid then FF3 will ask for them again and again each time it starts until valid paths are entered. I have seen this happen if you use an external hard drive with your installation and then move that drive from computer to computer and sometimes the drive letter changes for the external hard drive (eg. on one computer the drive may be D: whereas on another it is E:).

------- NO FireFly.INI file has been created anywhere on my PC.

------- After I enter the information, I can compile with no problems for that particular session.  I am not using any external drives

I have uninstalled FF3 and removed all references to it in the registry, reinstalled and tried again to no avail.

I have reinstalled 2.99 (which retained the settings just fine) and reinstalled FF3.03 to the same problem.

It has to be something on this PC that it's not liking I'd assume.

Additional information:  my mistake, wasn't searching the entire computer and didn't realize it.  FireFly.INI was created but only for versions 2.99 and 3.02.  It was created in C:\Users\(my login)\AppData\Local\AppData but only for those versions.  3.03 has not created any FireFly.INI file.

Not that it should make any difference but I am using Win7 on a HP p6130f QuadCore PC w/8GB RAM and over 1TB of available disk space.

Thanks in advance for the assistance.

There were no changes whatsoever from 3.02 to 3.03 in relation to the creation or saving of the ini file.

I assume that you installed 2.99 and 3.03 to different folders? (ie. you didn't install 3.03 into the same folder as 2.99).

Problem solved.  All I had to do was run FF3 one time as administrator and everything works fine now.  Thanks for bearing with me on this.

That is very interesting..... I'll have to remember that.

Actually, if you are getting the UAC warning when running FF3 then re-download the package. Mike advised yesterday that the FireFly3.exe in the original 3.03 package was set to require administrator privileges to run. I had forgot to unselect the checkbox prior to compiling the final FF3 exe. I re-uploaded a fixed version yesterday.
