Main Project Folder Setting

This is a minor point but if you click the browse for button at the end of the main project folder, the browse window does start point does not reflect the 'Default Project Folder' setting.

Hm, it does so on my machine (XPPro).
With an existant project it starts in the projects folder. With a new project it the Default Project folder and suggests a new folder "Project1".

Hi Rolf,

I agree, but I am refering to when you click the 'Browse for Foldee' button at the end of the 'Main Project Folder' field. I just wondered if it would be better to start at the default project folder.

Hi,

On Vista (Business) if you select 'New Project' the default is a per the environment options plus the '\Project1' suffix, but if you press the browse button it starts at the PC root i.e. Desktop, Public, Computer etc.

As I say it is not the biggest problem in the world I just felt it would be better to start in the same place as the default setting. It only came to my mind because a project I am working on involves a few modules and each time I created a new module project I had to work my way back to the projects folder and then create the new folder.

Oh, yes - that is Vista! You probably have installed FF3 in the Programs folder.

Vista does not like it if a program writes data to the programs folder, like to inifiles. This was no problem in previous Windows versions. It might help if your install into another folder like C:\Tools\FF3 or so. There was a thread about this before on this forum.

Also I noticed a different behaviour of the BrowseForFolder Dialog under Vista and Win7, the given startfolder might sometimes not be honored, and Windows might use its standard settings.
