skin a dialog help

Hi,
I have been trying to skin a window with no luck whatsoever  . It is way over my head. I read several topics over at
powerbasic that all give you one aspect of but never the hole picture. I was hoping that one of you people would be so kind as to give me a sample.
Here is what I want:
I want a dialog with an different border. The dialog will not move.
I know I have to
a) get the client bitmap area the size of the dialog I want
b) put that as a background of my dialog
c) paint anything I want it to be over the biitmap.

Hope some guy/girl in a good giving mood will give me a complete sample. I will for ever be grateful.
