Domain transfer.

I wanted independent answers before asking HostGater

I am going to move my domain and web site to HostGater.
I assume the question pertains to other providers as well.


HostGater provides domain transfer and auto registration.
I am not sure if I have auto domain registration with my current provider.
Will the switch null this if I transfer?
In other words is it possible to get double billed for my domain name registration.
